Ahrefs pricing, tier by tier — and what a team really pays

Ahrefs pricing starts at $29 a month for Starter and $129 for Lite, then $249 for Standard, $449 for Advanced and $1,499 for Enterprise. What moves the bill is less the tier than the seats, the credits and the add-ons, so this page prices those too. Every figure was read on ahrefs.com on 22 September 2026.

Drawers on this page

Ahrefs pricing in September 2026 runs from $29 a month (Starter) to $1,499 a month (Enterprise), with the three full self-serve plans — Lite, Standard and Advanced — at $129, $249 and $449 a month. Each of those includes one user; every additional person costs $40, $60 or $80 a month depending on the tier.

Ahrefs has no affiliate programme, so nothing on this page earns us money from Ahrefs. We price it because it is the suite this site measures Semrush against most often — and because its bill is easy to misread.

The four paid tiers

The paid ladder has four self-serve rungs under Enterprise: Starter at $29, Lite at $129, Standard at $249 and Advanced at $449 a month. Each step up raises the project count, the tracked keywords and the crawl credits, and opens extra tools.

  • Lite$129
  • Standard$249
  • Advanced$449
Drawn from the paragraph above and the plan table. Enterprise, at $1,499 a month with an annual commitment, sits off the top of this scale.

Enterprise requires an annual commitment. Below the table sits Starter, which is a different kind of plan altogether (covered further down), and Ahrefs Free, which costs nothing.

What each step unlocks, beyond bigger numbers:

  • Standard adds Content Explorer, Portfolios, Batch Analysis and keyword clusters, and removes Lite's cap on research credits.
  • Advanced adds the Looker Studio integration and five years of history.
  • Enterprise adds uncapped API access, single sign-on and audit logs.

Credits: the limit Lite users hit first

On Lite, research runs on credits: 1,000 per user each month. Standard, Advanced and Enterprise list "unlimited" credits per user, which is the single biggest practical difference between Lite and Standard.

Ahrefs does not publish a simple "one report equals one credit" table on its pricing page, so we will not invent one here. What the pricing FAQ does say is that once you switch on pay-as-you-go credits and data, Ahrefs charges automatically when you exceed your plan's limits, and those extra purchases last three billing months. If you are on Lite and run research every day, check your usage page before assuming the $129 is the whole bill.

What a team of three pays

For three people, Ahrefs costs $209 a month on Lite, $369 on Standard and $609 on Advanced. Each figure is the plan price plus two extra seats: $129 + 2 × $40, $249 + 2 × $60 and $449 + 2 × $80.

Three seats

Plan price plus two extra seats, per month

  • Lite$209$129 + 2 × $40
  • Standard$369$249 + 2 × $60
  • Advanced$609$449 + 2 × $80
Each bar is the sum written in the paragraph above: the plan (slate) plus two extra users (amber) at that tier's published seat price.

Lite cannot take a fourth person — its limit is two extra users — so a team of four must start on Standard, where four people cost $249 + 3 × $60 = $429 a month. Ahrefs also warns that "if not prepaid for, additional users are automatically charged on a pay-as-you-go basis", so an invited colleague can add to the bill before anyone decides to pay for them.

Monthly or annual billing

Ahrefs says paying annually saves "up to 17%", but its pricing page does not print a per-plan annual price. We could not read one, so we do not quote one; the figures above are the monthly prices.

Two details from Ahrefs' own FAQ are worth knowing before you commit. Switching to annual billing is done by contacting support, not from a toggle in your account. And Ahrefs "does not issue refunds in general" — on a monthly plan you may ask for one if you have not used the service, and it may be declined. That makes the annual choice a bigger bet than it is on tools with a trial.

Starter at $29: what it opens and what it keeps shut

Starter costs $29 a month and gives one user 200 credits a month plus access to Site Explorer, Keywords Explorer, Site Audit and Rank Tracker, according to Ahrefs' own announcement of the plan. Site Audit and Rank Tracker do not consume those credits because they have their own limits.

The terms are strict. You cannot buy extra users, credits or add-ons on Starter; you cannot downgrade to it from Lite or higher; and it renews only monthly. Ahrefs launched it with a post dated 2 September 2024, so it is not a 2026 plan despite some coverage calling it one. Our Ahrefs Starter plan guide goes through who it suits.

Ahrefs Free, and the question of a trial

Ahrefs offers no free trial and says plainly on its pricing page: "We never run discounts." Its free option is Ahrefs Free — the account formerly called Ahrefs Webmaster Tools — which is permanent, needs no card, and covers only websites you verify you own.

Ahrefs Free's published limits are 5,000 crawl credits a month per project in Site Audit and 1,000 backlinks and keywords visible at once in Site Explorer. It does not include Keywords Explorer or Rank Tracker. For researching your own site, it is genuinely useful; for researching competitors, it is not a substitute for a paid plan. There is also no discount code: anyone offering an "Ahrefs coupon" is offering something Ahrefs says it does not do.

Add-ons that change the bill

Four add-ons can move an Ahrefs bill more than a tier change. Content Kit starts at $99 a month, Report Builder costs $99 a month, Project Boost Pro costs $20 a month per project and Project Boost Max $200 a month per project.

Brand Radar AI, Ahrefs' AI-search visibility product, starts at $199 a month and can be bought on its own. None of these is needed for classic keyword and backlink research. If a quote you receive is higher than the tier price, one of them — or pay-as-you-go credits — is usually why.

Is Ahrefs worth it against Semrush?

Ahrefs is worth its price if your work is mostly backlink and keyword research, and less so if your work is mostly daily rank tracking. At the entry level Lite costs $129 a month against $139 for Semrush's SEO plan, but Ahrefs updates tracked keywords weekly on every plan while Semrush updates daily.

If the weekly update or the credit cap is the problem, the alternatives are priced in our Semrush alternatives comparison and our Ahrefs alternatives guide; the direct match-up is Ahrefs vs Semrush.
