SE Ranking Review (2026): Core and Growth, Priced and Weighed

This page has partner links, marked sponsored: a vendor may pay us if you subscribe through one. It never buys a place in a list — how we get paid.

SE Ranking is, in our judgement, the best-value alternative to Semrush for rank tracking and site audits: its $129-a-month Core plan tracks 2,000 keywords daily across 10 projects and includes 100 daily AI prompts, with a 14-day trial that asks for no card. Its weak spot is people — Core includes one seat — and anyone who needs historical data beyond a short window should look at Growth.

This review is built from SE Ranking's published plans and terms, read on its pricing page on 22 September 2026. We did not measure its ranking accuracy or database size, and the rating below is a judgement of what the published plan covers for its price, on the scale explained on how we check a plan.

The two plans

SE Ranking sells two self-serve plans, Core and Growth, plus an Enterprise tier priced by sales. Core costs $129 a month or $103.20 a month billed annually; Growth costs $279 a month or $223.20 a month billed annually.

Annual billing saves exactly 20% on both plans — $129 × 0.8 = $103.20 and $279 × 0.8 = $223.20 — and SE Ranking says annual subscribers get free assisted migration from another tool. Annual plans are billed upfront.

What Core does well

Core's strength is tracking volume for the price. At 2,000 keywords refreshed daily, it tracks four times as many as Semrush's SEO plan (500) for $10 a month less, and more than Ahrefs Lite's 750 — which Ahrefs updates weekly.

The rest of the Core plan covers the everyday SEO drawers without add-ons: rank tracking across major search engines, keyword, competitor and backlink research, a website and on-page audit, and integrations with Looker Studio (listed as Data Studio), Matomo, Google Analytics and Search Console. It also includes local rank tracking for 1,500 keywords across 3 locations.

Where Core is thin

Core is built for one person. It includes a single manager seat, extra seats start at $16 a month, and SE Ranking allows only one active session per login — if a colleague signs in, you are asked to hand over the session.

History is the other limit. Growth's card promises "historical data across project lifetime"; Core does not, so if you need to show a client two years of ranking history, budget for Growth. Content tools are modest too: Core includes 25 content-marketing articles a month and 50 on-page checks.

Add-ons that change the bill

Three add-ons are worth knowing before you compare SE Ranking's price with anyone else's. The Agency Pack costs $69 a month, billed annually only, and adds white-label reporting and client seats. The AI Search add-on costs $71.20 a month billed annually or $89 monthly, for 200 prompts across AI Overviews, AI Mode, Perplexity and ChatGPT. And the API add-on costs $45 a month, annually only.

None of them is needed for rank tracking and audits. An agency that sends branded reports will want the Agency Pack, which puts a white-labelled Core setup at $103.20 + $69 = $172.20 a month on annual billing.

Trial, refunds and switching

SE Ranking's trial runs 14 days, needs no card, and includes 10 projects, 750 tracked keywords a day, 20 AI prompts a day and AI research on 3 domains. That is smaller than the paid Core allowance, so judge the tool on how it works, not on the trial's limits.

After the trial, payments are "non-refundable, except in cases where the service wasn't delivered as promised". That is stricter than Mangools' 48-hour refund and matches Ahrefs' "no refunds in general". You can cancel any time, and move between plans from billing settings.

If you want to see it for yourself, start SE Ranking's 14-day trial — this is a partner link, and SE Ranking pays us if you later subscribe; the trial itself costs nothing and needs no card.

What this review cannot tell you

Four things matter to an SEO tool's value that no pricing page can show, and we have not measured them: how closely its rankings match what searchers see, how large and fresh its keyword and backlink databases are, how quickly support answers, and whether the interface suits the way you work.

SE Ranking makes claims about some of these on its own site, as every vendor does; we don't repeat them, because we can't check them. The 14-day trial is the way to find out. Track twenty keywords you already watch in Search Console, compare the two views after a week, and look up a competitor whose backlinks you know. If SE Ranking's picture matches the one you trust, the price advantage is real for you; if it doesn't, no price advantage makes up for it.

Who should skip SE Ranking

SE Ranking is a weaker fit for two kinds of buyer. The first is a team that already has several people researching every day: seats are cheap, but a login allows only one session at a time, so each person needs a paid seat.

The second is anyone whose work is mostly backlink research on other sites rather than tracking and audits. SE Ranking includes backlink research on Core, but this review has not measured the depth of its link data, so if links are your main drawer, trial it against Ahrefs' cheapest plans before choosing.

Who should pick Growth

Growth is for small agencies and in-house teams, not heavier individual users. Its $279 buys three seats, 30 projects, 5,000 daily keywords, 250 daily prompts and full project history.

Seats alone are not a reason to move up. Two extra seats on Core cost from $129 + 2 × $16 = $161 a month, well under Growth's $279, so pick Growth for its history, projects and keyword allowance rather than for its seats. The plan-by-plan match-up against Semrush is in SE Ranking vs Semrush, and the wider field in our Semrush alternatives comparison.
